About this game
Gridlock is a parking-lot puzzle with one rule you learn on your first tap: a car drives away when the lane in front of it is empty and the perimeter wall has a gap where it would leave. Tap a car with a clear run and it pulls out, headlights sweeping ahead of it. Tap one that is boxed in and it lurches, brakes, and the car standing in its way lights up — so you always know what to shift first. Clear every bay to finish the lot. Cars fill two squares, trucks fill three, and each one points at exactly one wall, which means a truck three deep in a full row is a very different problem from a car sitting beside an open gate. Every lot is built in reverse, each vehicle parked only where its own exit was already open, so the lot is guaranteed clearable before you ever see it — and no car is ever left facing a solid stretch of wall. Better still, driving a car out can only ever free squares, never block them, so you cannot strand yourself whatever order you choose. Cars come in four colours, and sending two of the same colour out back to back starts a convoy that multiplies everything after it. Lots grow from five squares to eight as you go, and a fresh seven-square lot arrives every day with a streak to keep. One finger, any screen, nothing to install.
Controls
Tap or click anywhere on a car to send it out — the whole vehicle is the target, not just its nose.
- Hint highlights a car that can leave right now.
- New deals a fresh lot, and Daily switches to today's shared lot.
How to play
Every car points at one wall of the lot. It can drive out only if two things are true: every square between it and that wall is empty, and the wall has a gap where it would pass through.
Sending cars out
- Gaps are the breaks in the perimeter, marked with hazard dashes.
- Tap a car that qualifies and it leaves. Tap one that does not and it brakes hard while the car blocking it flashes, which tells you what to move first.
- Clear the lot to finish.
Convoys
- Sending two cars of the same colour out one after the other starts a convoy
- And each further car in that convoy is worth more
- So look for runs of one colour instead of taking the first car you see
- You cannot get stuck: any car that can legally leave is always safe to send, in any order.
