About this game
Word Weave is the once-a-day tracing puzzle where the whole grid is the answer. Six columns by eight rows of letters sit in front of you, and every single one of those 48 letters belongs to exactly one hidden word — nothing is filler. All you are told is the theme. Drag a finger, or click letter to letter, through touching squares to trace a word: paths may run in any direction, bend as often as they like and cut across diagonals, but they can never reuse a square. Among the themed answers is one long spanner, the word or short phrase that sums up the theme and stretches all the way from one edge of the grid to the opposite one; it is drawn in a distinct woven ribbon when you find it, so you always know which one it was. Stuck? Trace any ordinary word of four letters or more that is not part of the puzzle and you earn a hint credit. Collect three and the game outlines one answer's location for you — where it is, not what it says, so the satisfaction of reading it out is still yours. The puzzle is solved the moment every letter is spoken for. Solve on consecutive days to build a streak and share a spoiler-free trail of squares showing the order you unpicked it in, without giving away a single word. There is one puzzle a day and everyone gets the same one. Plays with a mouse, a finger or the keyboard alone, on any screen, with nothing to install.
Controls
Drag through touching letters to trace a word, then release. Or tap letters one at a time and tap the last one again to submit.
Keyboard
- Arrow keys move the cursor, Space adds the letter under it.
- Backspace removes the last one, Enter submits and Escape clears.
How to play
Every letter in the 6x8 grid belongs to exactly one hidden word, and the theme is your only clue.
Tracing words
- Trace a word by moving through squares that touch — sideways, up and down or diagonally — bending as much as you like, but never using a square twice.
- One answer is the spanner: it names the theme and reaches from one edge of the grid to the opposite edge, and it is marked out differently from the rest when found.
- Find every answer to finish the weave.
Hint credits
- Any other real word of four or more letters you spot earns a hint credit, and three credits outline one answer's location without naming it.
The daily weave
- There is one shared puzzle per day: solve it to build a streak and share your spoiler-free result. A new puzzle unlocks at midnight.
