About this game

Core Defender is a tower defense game with no path drawn on the board, because you draw it. Corrupted packets stream from the entry port and flow toward your CPU core along the shortest route they can find, so every firewall you place rewrites their journey. There is no track to line towers up beside — your towers ARE the maze, and a wall in the right place is worth more damage than the tower on top of it will ever deal. That makes every placement three decisions at once: what it shoots, how much longer the walk becomes, and what it costs you in interest. There are exactly four tower types and each one refuses to be a general answer. Pulse is your cheap single-target backbone. Arc chains through three packets and is wasted on a lone one. Cryo deals zero damage forever and slows nothing that carries a shield. Rail fires a piercing beam down a long lane, which is only long if you built it that way. Four types with real mazing beats eight types without, so composition is forced rather than suggested. Between waves, spend on new towers and upgrades or bank credits at ten percent interest — a genuine save-versus-spend call from wave three onward. Send a wave early for a bonus, and every fifth wave offers an Overclocked variant with tougher packets and double bounty that you can accept or decline. Play on desktop with click-to-build, hover range previews and number-key quick select, or on mobile with a radial menu and a ghost preview you confirm before it lands. Packet health grows exponentially and your income does not, so every run ends at a number: the wave you reached. A leak heatmap on the death screen shows exactly where your maze started bleeding, which is usually all the excuse you need to rebuild.

Controls

Click an empty cell to open the build palette, or press 1-4 to quick-select a tower and click to place it. Click a built tower to upgrade or sell it. Space cycles 1x/2x/3x speed; Enter sends the next wave. On touch: tap a cell for the radial menu, tap a tower type, then tap the check mark to confirm the ghost preview.

How to play

Corrupted packets walk from the entry port to your core along the shortest open route, and your towers are the only walls on the board — so build to make that route long. Placements that would seal the port off entirely are rejected outright with PATH BLOCKED, and you can never trap a packet with nowhere to go. Pulse handles single targets cheaply, Arc chains through crowds, Rail pierces everything in a long straight lane, and Cryo slows without dealing any damage at all — which shield units ignore completely, so slow-stacking is never the whole answer. Selling refunds every credit during the build phase you bought in, so experiment with the maze shape freely; after that it drops to 70%. Unspent credits earn 10% interest each wave you clear, capped, so hoarding is a decision rather than a strategy. Send waves early for bonus credits and accept the Overclock offer every fifth wave for double bounty if your build can take the extra health. It never ends — get as far as you can.
