Daily challenge

Fairway — Mini Golf serves one puzzle a day, generated from the calendar date — so the board you play is the same board every other player gets. Solve it before the day is out to extend your streak. Your stats stay in this browser; there is nothing to sign up for.

About this game

Fairway is mini golf seen from directly above. You drag back from the ball to aim and load the shot, let go, and watch it roll — losing speed to the turf, banking off the wooden rails, dragging to a halt in sand or vanishing into water for a penalty stroke. Nine holes make a round, and the whole nine is generated fresh from the date, so every player in the world putts the same course on the same day. The number that matters is par, and here it is not a designer's opinion. Before a hole ever appears on screen, the game searches the shot space against its own physics — thousands of angle-and-power combinations, then thousands more from wherever the first shot came to rest — and records the fewest shots that actually dropped the ball in the cup, along with the exact shots that did it. That sequence is replayed through the same step function your ball uses, so a hole marked par 3 is a hole this game has genuinely sunk in three. Nothing is a guess and nothing is unreachable. The round ends on a nine-hole scorecard: strokes against par for each hole, a total, and a compact spoiler-free grid you can post without giving away a single wall. A daily streak carries between days, and free play deals endless fresh rounds when you want to keep swinging. What makes a hole interesting is never its length. It is the rail you have to use because there is no straight line, the sand you have to carry rather than cross, the pond you must go around, and the slope that turns a putt you thought was straight. Because par comes out of a real search rather than a rule of thumb, a hole that looks generous can be par 2 and a short one behind a wall can be par 3, and learning to read which is which is most of the game. The two long holes wind back on themselves far enough that the search sometimes cannot reach the cup in three, and those come back par 4 — so the round's total is not the same every day. Beating par means finding a line the solver did not, which happens, and is worth exactly as much as it sounds.

Controls

Drag back from the ball to aim and load power, then release to putt.

Keyboard

  • Left and Right swing the aim and Up and Down set the power.
  • Space plays the shot, and holding Shift while turning makes the aim fine.

How to play

Nine holes to a round, and the fewest strokes wins.

Playing a hole

  • Drag back from the ball and let go — the further you pull, the harder the putt, and the dotted line previews the start of the shot you are about to play.
  • The ball rolls with friction and banks off the rails, so a wall is a route as often as it is an obstacle.
  • Sand stops the ball in a cell or two, and water costs a penalty stroke and puts you back where you played from.

Par

  • Each hole's par is the fewest shots a search of the shot space could actually sink, replayed through the same physics your ball rolls on.
  • Beating par means finding a line the search missed, so a birdie is a real one.
