About this game

Rally is the paddle-and-ball duel that started arcade gaming, rebuilt with a clean neon look and a computer opponent that gives you a real game. You control the left paddle; slide it to keep the ball in play and send it back. The clever part is the angle: where the ball strikes your paddle decides where it goes, so catching it near the edge slices a sharp return that is hard to reach, while the centre plays it safe. Every exchange speeds the ball up a little, so a long rally becomes a test of nerve as much as reflex, until someone finally can't reach the return. Three difficulty settings change how fast and how accurately the computer covers its side — Easy leaves gaps you can exploit, Hard barely misses. First to seven points takes the match. It plays with a mouse, a finger drag, or the arrow keys, on any screen, and there is nothing to install. Simple to pick up, genuinely tense at match point.

Controls

Move your mouse or drag up and down to slide the left paddle; the Arrow keys or W/S also work. The ball's angle depends on where it hits your paddle — use the edges for sharp returns.

How to play

Keep the ball in play by moving your paddle to meet it, and it bounces back toward the computer.

Angles and pace

  • Hit the ball with the edge of your paddle to send it back at a steep angle, or the centre for a flatter, safer return.
  • The ball speeds up with every hit, so rallies get harder the longer they last.

Scoring

  • You score when the computer fails to return the ball, and it scores when you miss.
  • First to seven points wins the match; pick Easy, Medium, or Hard to set the computer's skill.
