About this game

8-Ball Pool brings the pub table to the browser with real rolling physics and a computer opponent that lines up its own cuts and banks. Break the rack, then claim solids or stripes with your first pot and work to clear the table before the black. Aiming is the whole game here: drag back from the cue ball like a slingshot to set both angle and power, a power ring fills around the cue ball as you pull so you know exactly how hard you are about to hit, and a ghost-ball guide shows where the object ball will head — including the tangent line off the contact — so a thin cut into a corner is a shot you can actually plan rather than pray for. Hit hard enough and the cue ball will run the length of the table, which is what makes a long pot down the rail worth attempting. Balls collide, spin off the cushions, and drop into any of six pockets with a satisfying weight. Scratch the cue and you hand your opponent ball-in-hand, so control matters as much as power. Pot the 8-ball too early or on a foul and you lose it on the spot; clear your group and sink it clean to take the frame. The computer plays a genuine game — it hunts for the makeable shot and punishes a loose safety — and it all works the same with a drag of the finger or the mouse. Rack them up and break.

Controls

Press and drag back from the cue ball to aim: the direction sets your line and the pull-back distance sets power.

Reading the shot

  • A ring around the cue ball fills from green to red as you pull, with notches at every quarter, so you can see exactly how hard the shot will land before you let go.
  • The dashed guide and ghost ball show where the cue and object ball will go.
  • Release to strike, or let go at 0% to cancel.

After a foul

  • On a foul you get ball in hand — drag the cue ball to a clear spot, then aim.

How to play

Break the rack, then sink a ball to claim either solids (1–7) or stripes (9–15); your opponent takes the other group.

Keeping your turn

  • Pot a ball from your group to keep shooting; miss and the turn passes.
  • Potting the cue ball is a scratch — a foul that gives your opponent ball in hand.

The 8-ball

  • Once every ball in your group is down, pot the 8-ball to win.
  • Sinking the 8-ball early, or on a scratch, loses the game immediately, so save it for last and shoot it clean.
