About this game

Number Rush is a sixty-second mental arithmetic sprint. A sum appears, you type the answer, and the moment the number you have typed is right it moves straight on to the next one — no confirming, no tapping a button, just numbers. You get through as many as you can before the clock runs out, and the number you reach is your score. The questions ramp as you go. The first few are small additions and subtractions to get your hands moving; then the times tables arrive; then division, always coming out whole so there is never a fraction to worry about; and by the end you are on two-digit multiplication and three-figure sums. Crucially the ramp follows the question number rather than the clock, which matters more than it sounds. If it followed the clock, a quick player would be handed harder questions for going fast, and a high score would be partly a penalty. Because the ramp is fixed to position, the twentieth question is the twentieth question for everybody. That is also the point of the daily set. Everyone who plays today gets the same questions in the same order, so comparing scores is comparing arithmetic rather than comparing luck — the thing that makes a number worth sending to somebody. A wrong answer does not end the run; it costs you two seconds off the clock and breaks your streak, which keeps the whole thing a sprint rather than a sudden-death test. There is a full keypad on screen for phones and the number row works on a keyboard, with backspace to fix a slip and Enter if you would rather commit to an answer deliberately than let it advance on its own. Alongside the daily set there is unlimited practice on freshly generated questions, your best score is kept, and a link lets you send someone the exact set you just played rather than a fresh one — same questions, their turn.

Controls

Type the answer on the keypad or the number row. It moves on by itself the moment the number is right, so there is nothing to confirm.

Keyboard

0 to 9 type a digit.
Backspace clears the last digit.
Enter commits an answer deliberately, and counts as wrong if it is.

The run

The moment the number you have typed matches the answer, it advances — you never confirm a correct answer.
A wrong answer committed with Enter costs two seconds and resets your streak, but the run carries on.
Every answer is a whole number and never negative, so there is no minus key and no decimal point to hunt for.

The set

The questions get harder as you get further in, and the ramp follows the question number rather than the clock — so going fast never earns you harder sums.
Everyone playing today's set gets the same questions in the same order, which is what makes the scores comparable.
Practice mode deals a fresh set any time, and your best score is kept separately.
